A year ago , two people wearing outlaw motorcycle gang colours lined up to lay a black wreath with gang colours at Sarnia’s cenotaph, and refused to leave when asked.

There was no similar disruption at Tuesday’s Remembrance Day ceremony.

Signs warning against wearing gang colours and clothing were posted around Veterans Park, and police and Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62 personnel prepared to make sure this year’s event ran smoothly, said Ron Realesmith, first vice-president with the Sarnia Legion branch.

“One of our pillars is the act of remembrance,” he said.

“This is our duty to do this, and that’s why we want to make sure that it’s run respectfully and done professionally.”
