AUGUSTA -- Veterans Day ceremonies were held across the state Tuesday, honoring and celebrating the courage and sacrifice of our veterans. Togus VA Medical center in Augusta hosted their annual observance ceremony Tuesday morning.
"Your service and sacrifice have granted us the rights and freedoms that we cherish as americans," said Tracye Davis, Medical Center Director. "The men and women of this state have answered the call each and every time the bell of freedom has rung."
Among those who attended the ceremony was Veteran Allan Hitt. He is a U.S. Navy Veteran who serves as the Commander of the Kennebec County Veterans Honor Guard. He says his thoughts often bring him back to his time in uniform.
"I reflect everyday because I'm first of all I'm a veteran and we have a lot of veterans
