Hundreds turned out in honor of this year’s New York City Veterans Day Parade to watch as more than 20,000 service members marched on Fifth Avenue Tuesday.
Despite cold temperatures, spectators enjoyed marching bands, floats, military units and veterans’ organizations along the parade route.
“I have multiple family members, including my grandfather, who just passed away a month ago, who was a veteran in the Vietnam War. And I'm here today in his memory,” Reilly Arena told The Associated Press.
This year’s Grand Marshals included former SSG and Medal of Honor recipient Clinton Romesha, Marine veteran and homeless veterans' advocate Stephen Peck, and NASA Astronaut and retired U.S. Navy Captain Sunita “Suni” Williams, according to the event’s website.
