FLETCHER – The few rows of seating in Asheville Regional Airport ’s ticket lobby were full of passengers who had arrived early for their flights Nov. 10.

Hank and Madeleine Slingerland were waiting on a flight to Chicago O’Hare with Madeleine Slingerland’s sisters, Mary and Liz Kane, all visiting from Chicago.

Their flight had been delayed almost 24 hours the day before and then reverted close to its original departure time, both changes without an explanation from the airline, they said.

The group had arrived more than four hours ahead of time to make sure they wouldn’t miss their flight.

“We heard that the morning Chicago flight got canceled, so we’re just hopeful that everything goes well,” Madeleine Slingerland told the Times-News.
