LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Crews continue to monitor water runoff in and around the UPS plane crash site.

Members of the Metropolitan Sewer District’s Environmental Response Team, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Kentucky Water Division and UPS are monitoring and cleaning waterways in southern Jefferson County.

“MSD’s Environmental Response Team began immediately after the UPS plane crash on Nov. 4,” Tony Parrott said on Monday. Parrott is MSD’s executive director.

On Tuesday, technicians were taking samples of the water downstream from where floating booms stretched across the banks. These booms absorb oil and other harmful substances. MSD reported it was mobilized only 90 minutes after UPS Flight 2976 went down on Nov. 4.
