CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - House Bill 372 or the Larry Henderson Act could bring harsher punishments for criminals.
Jay McDonald, the president of the Ohio Fraternal Order of Police and State Representative Cindy Abrams are working together to prevent people who kill police officers from getting parole.
Instead, the bill proposed two options. Life without the possibility of parole or the death penalty.
“We’re not talking about changing the judicial standards,” said McDonald. “What we’re talking about is reserving the worst penalties for the worst crimes”.
The bill is still in its early stages but if it becomes law it could give people like Jessica Riley some peace of mind.
Riley’s grandfather, Bedford Heights Police Detective William Prochazka was murdered in 1975.
