A child was hospitalized after a dog attacked two people and chased a third, police announced on Friday, Nov. 7 at 5:15 p.m.

Lancaster City Bureau of Police officers responded to multiple reports of an animal attack on the 400 block of Beaver Street, where one resident was chased by a roaming dog while two others were bitten, according to the release.

Officers used non-lethal force to safely contain the dog before its owner arrived and retrieved the animal, police said.

The child who was bitten was transported to a local hospital for treatment, authorities confirmed.

An investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
