Robert & Gabriel Jewelers is celebrating 100 years of service with an anniversary celebration sale from Nov. 20 through Nov. 22 at 5244 Mayfield Road in Lyndhurst.
When the business first opened at E. 95th St. and Cedar Road, it was a clothing alterations and retail shop owned by an immigrant from Russia, who was the grandfather of Bruce Botnick – the business’s owner today. When Botnick’s father took over the business in 1938, it became a pawn shop, and Botnick worked as a pawnbroker from right after his bar mitzvah until he inherited the business in 1981.
Botnick is now the third-generation owner of his family’s century-old business, which he turned into the 7,000-square-foot timeless jewelry and giftware store it is today.
