KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Royals announced a trade on consecutive days for another player who was recently designated for assignment.

Former San Francisco Giants right-handed pitcher Mason Black was acquired by the Royals on Tuesday in a trade that sent minor leaguer Logan Martin back to the Giants.

Black was designated for assignment last week after the 25-year-old made just one MLB appearance for San Francisco in 2025.

He spent the rest of his 2025 season in Triple-A, going 3-10 with a 5.81 ERA. Still, the Royals are hoping his 8.6 strikeouts per nine innings rate, which ranked in the top 10 of Giants minor leaguers last year, will translate to the Royals.

The former 2021 third-round pick out of Lehigh University made his MLB debut in May 2024.
