A shooting in Hawkins County Friday afternoon has left one man dead.

According to a release from the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 4 p.m., deputies, responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Christians Bend Road near Ensor Road.

Upon arrival, deputies located a man, identified as Steven R. Ball, age 55, who was found dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Deputies and investigators immediately secured the scene and began interviewing witnesses. A person of interest has been identified and located, and the investigation remains very active and ongoing. There is no ongoing threat to the public.

Hawkins County Sheriff Ronnie Lawson said that additional information will be released as the investigation continues.
