LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) — Veterans gathered outside Memorial Stadium for the annual “Veterans Walk” to the Auld Pavilion ahead of the city’s Veterans Day ceremony.
The walk covered about three miles before participants arrived at the ceremony venue. Captain Travis Borchardt, an instructor at the Officer Candidate School with the Nebraska National Guard, served as the key speaker for the event.
Borchardt thanked veterans for their service and highlighted the importance of military history in training future officers.
“There’s a reason that America has the greatest fighting force in the world, and it’s because of the people that have laid that foundation, that have gone before us and put it all on the line,” Borchardt said. “And they’re still with us today, and we should absolutely be gratef
