Quebec’s Superior Court has refused a request by the provincial federation representing medical specialists to accept a new interpretation of parts of the contentious Bill 2 health law .
The Fédération des médecins spécialistes du Québec (FMSQ) had submitted a new interpretation of certain elements of the law, along with the Attorney General of Quebec, that they said could alleviate much of the anxiety the law, which modifies how doctors are paid in the province, has caused.
While conceding that such a judgment could bring some serenity to the debate, Judge Pierre Nollet said in his ruling released Tuesday that “unfortunately, requests to decide a point of law need to follow certain rules that are not met here.”
