Dover coach Christian Jones fielded what was basically a jayvee team while transitioning from eight-man to 11-man football in 2023.

The young Dragons, who started four freshmen and as many as eight sophomores, took their lumps, going 0-10. However, Dover won four games last year and is 8-2 this season with a chance at completing one of the most impressive short-term turnarounds in Section 9 history.

Dover plays Chester (8-1) for the Class C championship at noon on Saturday at Goshen High School in a rematch of last year’s title game.
