ROCKFORD, Ill. — Hundreds of students at Ellis Elementary School received free coats to help them stay warm this winter.
As part of the Operation Warm initiative, 500 kids at the school tried on new coats to find the perfect fit. This charity aims to ensure children have the necessary clothing to endure cold weather safely, which can positively impact their education.
"It's awesome," said Andrew Wimberly, assistant principal at Ellis Elementary School. "It reassures us and the kids that they will be warm and comfortable during the colder months. It allows them to come to school here and focus on learning instead of those basic needs."
