WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — The U.S. Senate has passed a crucial funding bill, which is the first step toward ending the the longest government shutdown in the nation's history, so a lot of people have the government reopening on their minds.

That includes food pantries around Connecticut that stepped up to fill a big need when SNAP benefits were disrupted because of the shutdown.

Over in West Hartford , Jewish Family Services of Greater Hartford 's Chief Executing Officer Katie Hanley said their food pantry clients at the Anja Rosenberg Kosher Food Pantry will continue feeling the strain even after the shutdown ends.
