ESTHERVILLE, Iowa (KTIV) — For military students, balancing service and school, and finding the right support, can make all the difference.
Iowa Lakes Community College held its Veterans Day Program, where supporting veterans is more than a once-a-year ceremony.
“They miss out on a lot of stuff, missed birthdays, and Christmas, and Thanksgivings,” said Tim Ireland, Iowa Lakes Veteran Center Director.
“Veterans Day is not just a holiday, it is a day we honor those who have served throughout history, and those who are currently serving today,” said Master Sergeant Lorenzia Henderson, U.S. Army (Ret.).
While veterans and their families endure those sacrifices, one small Iowa college is making sure that service doesn’t go unnoticed.
