A Qantas flight has been forced to make an emergency landing shortly after take-off with several Australian politicians onboard.
The Canberra bound flight took off from Adelaide about 6.10am on Wednesday but was forced to turn back shortly after takeoff after the cabin reportedly began to fill with smoke.
Pilots on flight QF1972 issued a PAN declaration, an international urgency signal used to declare a serious but not immediately life-threatening situation, and landed back in Adelaide a short time later.
Fire crews and paramedics met the plane and tended to passengers, however, there were no reported injuries.
A Qantas spokesperson said the plane was forced to turn back due to a “technical issue”.
