HANOVER, Va. (WWBT) - Hanover County is taking a significant step in addressing mental health emergencies within its community by officially implementing the Marcus Alert system.
This initiative aims to ensure that individuals experiencing a mental health crisis receive a comprehensive response that includes both law enforcement and trained behavioral health professionals.
Sharry Woods, Director of Operations at WHOA Behavioral Health, said she is glad to see mental health being addressed in our communities.
“Mental health issues are a worldwide crisis, right? And I think the more we talk about it, we’re able to destigmatize it, we’re able to let go of some of the shame that’s attached to it,” Woods said.
