COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Tom Turbiville has spent more than two decades recognizing local veterans through his work in media.
“I had the absolute honor to interview 141 local veterans,” he said. “About 77 of those were World War II veterans.”
Turbiville was selected as a Jefferson Award winner earlier this year for his contributions to public service in the Brazos Valley. Giving a voice to those who served was among his notable endeavors.
“It was an absolute honor to interview those veterans,” he reflected. “It was really one of the highlights of my life.”
The longtime broadcaster has a deep personal connection to the veterans community. His mother was the widow of a soldier killed during WWII. Turbiville was born after she remarried to his father.
