If the College Football Playoffs started this week, Miami would still not qualify for the 12-team bracket.

But the Hurricanes are slightly closer than they were last week.

The College Football Playoff selection committee moved Miami up to No. 15 in this week’s rankings after putting Miami at No. 18 last week. Miami is the highest-ranked ACC team, and ESPN’s projected bracket put the Hurricanes in the playoffs as the 11 seed. In that projected bracket, the Hurricanes would travel to play No. 6 Texas Tech in the first round of the playoff.
