HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - As winter weather moved in on Monday, many drivers found themselves slipping and sliding on the road.
From Interstate 64 to the 31st Street Bridge and the 6th Street Bridge in Huntington, first responders were kept busy -- eventually turning to transportation crews for assistance.
Both Kentucky and Ohio’s transportation officials told us they had crews out on the roads as early as Monday morning.
They told us those same crews stayed out working on the roads throughout the evening.
In West Virginia, the Department of Transportation (DOT) said they had crews on standby and out salting, but that crews don’t usually pretreat the roads.
All three told us the falling temperatures and the transition from rain to snow made it difficult for them to lay salt down.
