Smith County home on CR 2138 damaged in structure fire

TROUP, Texas — No injuries were reported after a structure fire caused extensive damage to a home in Troup.

Smith County ESD #2 spokesperson Nikki Simmons said fire crews were dispatched around 5:33 p.m. for a house fire on CR 2138. A home had caught fire and was around 50% involved, Simmons said.

The family living inside the home had all been evacuated at the time of the fire. Crews managed to douse the fire, though the home still suffered major damage.

The Smith County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
