LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — During a ceremony held on Tuesday, an Arkansas veteran was honored for his service during the Vietnam War.
The ceremony came as a crowd of veterans and veterans’ supporters gathered to honor their country and each other at War Memorial Stadium.
Event organizer Jason Irby said the "Corvettes and Veterans" event might sound unusual, but veterans in attendance understand that, before it was a car, a Corvette was a military vessel.
Plus, there’s the name of the stadium itself.
“It just kind of was fitting to put it together,” Irby said. “A car show with a salute and a ceremony at War Memorial Stadium.”
The community showed up most notably in the form of a 60-foot flag being flown by the Little Rock Fire Department.
