LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The Kentucky hemp industry is fighting against Senator Mitch McConnell to keep their THC-infused products on the shelves. And at the moment, McConnell appears to be winning.
He wants to greatly restrict the hemp-derived and buzz-inducing THC in gummies and drinks.
Critics in the hemp industry say that would render their increasingly popular products illegal and their crops worthless.
“It’s a death sentence to the entire industry,” Marion County hemp farmer Jeff Grundy said. “We would be shut down and essentially be left with a significant debt load that we would have to figure out something to do with.”
Grundy said he has a half million dollars invested in hemp.
And if McConnell is successful, Grundy says he would have to sell some of his land to pay back the
