ROCKLAND, Maine (WABI) - The memory of one beloved Rockland veteran, now cemented in his hometown.
Veterans Day Tuesday saw a special commemoration for World War II veteran Leroy “Flag Man” Peasley, a Rockland native who became a well-known and loved character in the community before passing in Jan. 2022.
In his honor, Portland-based real estate firm Developers Collaborative named their newest project, a 49-unit senior housing complex, Peasley Park.
Developers Collaborative owner Kevin Bunker says the dedication comes from decades of friendship.
“Roy was a good friend of mine. Roy and I knew each other for about 20 years,” Bunker recounts. “I was lucky enough to take him on an Honor Flight to DC in 2015. I took him again in 2018, just me and him, and we spent a lot of time together,
