Menulog, a food delivery service, will cease operations in Australia after 20 years of service. The final day for customers to place orders will be November 26, according to managing director Morten Belling. Belling stated that the decision is part of a strategic shift to focus on growth in other markets. "Today is a tough day for the Menulog business, and I would like to reassure everyone this decision was not taken lightly," he said. The closure will impact approximately 120 employees in Australia, who are expected to lose their jobs. The company confirmed this information on November 12. Menulog has pledged to provide affected employees with generous redundancy packages that exceed legal requirements, along with outplacement support. Founded in Sydney in 2006, Menulog was acquired by a UK and Dutch company, now known as Just Eat, in 2015. Belling emphasized the company's commitment to supporting its customers, couriers, and partners during this transition. "Our priority now is to support our customers, couriers and partners," he said. To facilitate this, Menulog will offer a two-week transition period for customers to redeem any unused vouchers and credits. Additionally, eligible couriers will receive a four-week voluntary payment. The Menulog platform will remain operational until November 26 at 11:59 PM AEDT. Belling expressed gratitude to all who have partnered with and supported Menulog throughout the years. This decision marks a significant change in the Australian food delivery landscape as Menulog exits the market.
