BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - The sound of Taps filled the ears of veterans from across the Coast on Tuesday.

One group gathered at the Hard Rock Cafe in Biloxi this Veterans Day, remembering the work done for this country by those who have served.

Members of the American Legion Post 2010 are here to honor the legacy of those who fought for their country, as well as those who didn’t make it back home.

“Veterans Day often gets downplayed as a free holiday,” said American Legion post member Laura Kennedy.

Kennedy said her uncle is a retired Navy veteran, and she went into the Navy in 1979.

“I retired in January 2001 only to become a survivor of 9/11,” she said.
