LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - For the second time this season, Kansas star freshman Darryn Peterson has been sidelined for a game.

Peterson was in street clothes on the Jayhawks’ bench Tuesday night as KU took on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. According to the ESPN+ broadcast, a KU spokesperson said head coach Bill Self would address Peterson’s absence after the game.

The Big 12 Preseason Freshman of the Year missed one of KU’s exhibition games against Fort Hays State in October due to illness and cramps and was limited in the second half of another exhibition against Louisville due to cramps, Self said.

Self said Monday that Peterson practiced ahead of the game against the Islanders.

In his absence, redshirt sophomore guard Elmarko Jackson started in Peterson’s place.
