FARGO — With all the uncertainty around SNAP funding, the Emergency Food Pantry in Fargo says a big donation on Tuesday, Nov. 11, came just in time.
The Fargo branches of Capital Credit Union donated $15,000 to the Emergency Food Pantry, along with a collection of food items.
Over the past few weeks, the “SNAP gap” has more than doubled the daily clients the pantry typically serves.
This time of year, they usually serve 74 households a day. This first week of November — 150.
“I think people will have that, maybe that sigh of relief once government is up and running again, once that it's actually more sustainable versus just making contingency,” said Stacie Loegering, executive director of the Emergency Food Pantry.
