DENVER — Given the preponderance of wind buffeting Tuesday’s PIAA Class 3A girls soccer semifinal at Cocalico’s Talon Field, conditions were always going to find a way toward deciding the game.

It didn’t do so on its own, though. For 70-plus minutes, District 1 champion Radnor was decisively the better team.

But breaking the resolve of Lower Dauphin, and goalie Nahla Raab in particular, required something special, something determined, and something with maybe a touch of fortune in the moment.

Sophomore Ailsa Gilmour obliged. The midfielder lofted a second ball off a corner kick into a dangerous area, riding the stiff crosswinds and creating chaos in the box before nestling into the side netting, the only goal in a 1-0 victory.

The win sends Radnor (19-4-1) to the state final Saturday
