COLUMBUS, Ohio—Gov. Mike DeWine has again eased his opposition to proposition betting on sports, expressing support Monday for new Major League Baseball limits on “microprop” wagers on the outcomes of extremely specific situations in games.

DeWine, a Republican, had called in August for the Ohio Casino Control Commission to completely ban proposition, or “prop,” bets in Ohio after the commission and MLB launched investigations into Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz for fixing bets on specific pitches.

The governor was emphatic then.

“The evidence that prop betting is harming athletics in Ohio is reaching critical mass,” DeWine said in a statement. “First, there were threats on Ohio athletes, and now two high-profile Ohio professional athletes have been suspend
