BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The Birmingham Police Department has arrested a man in connection to a homicide that occurred Saturday night, Nov. 8, in Birmingham’s Powderly neighborhood .

Police say that officers responded to reports of a person shot in the 1800 block of Henry Crumpton Drive around 11:20 p.m. Saturday.

When officers arrived, they found 31-year-old Jeremiah Cornell Stone lying unresponsive in the roadway with an apparent gunshot wound.

Stone was pronounced on the scene.

Police learned a second person had been shot in the 2500 block of John Bryant Road.

Authorities say initial investigations suggest Stone and the other victim were traveling in a vehicle in the 1800 block of Henry Crumpton Drive when a suspect fired shots at them.
