SALT LAKE CITY – The second week of College Football Playoff rankings for 2025 was released on Tuesday night, and it included some expected changes in the top 10.
Days after checking in at No. 7 in the initial CFP poll , BYU football suffered its first loss of the season, damaging its resume in the voters’ eyes.
Utah stayed at No. 13 , while the Cougars dropped five spots to No. 12.

Utah had the benefit of a bye week to rest up and heal some bumps and bruises. The BYU Cougars traveled to Lubbock, Texas, where the surging Texas Tech Red Raiders summarily thumped them.
