PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Artist Mike Bennet hosted a community event Tuesday afternoon, inviting people to help paint the “world’s longest dachshund.” The event was also a fundraiser for Pet Pack PDX, a nonprofit that helps pet owners in need.
A crowd quickly gathered at Bennet’s studio in Northeast Portland as people of all ages lined up to participate in the community art event. Outside the building, participants gathered around to paint the “world’s longest dachshund”, made out of plywood.
But before getting their hands on a paintbrush, painters were encouraged to donate to Pet Pack PDX. The future of SNAP benefits in Oregon is still unclear, and Bennett said he wanted to help raise money for his community.
