The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has issued a severe G4 severe geomagnetic storm watch for Wednesday, Nov. 12 and the potential for the Northern Lights to be visible in New Jersey.
The aurora borealis "may become visible over much of the northern half of the country, and maybe as far south as Alabama to northern California," NOAA posted.
The NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center has been issuing alerts "in response to potential geomagnetic storm effects related to coronal mass ejections (CME) that have erupted from the Sun over the past several days."
The warning includes the potential to impact infrastructure technology and possible satellite disruption.
NOAA's current watch list includes:
Nov. 11 - G2 (moderate)
Nov. 12 G4 (severe)
Nov. 13 G3 (strong)
