GADSDEN, Ala. ( WBRC ) - After 27 years of serving friends and families, the city of Gadsden is changing the way they host community Thanksgiving.
With the rising cost of food, supplies and financial challenges. City leaders say churches and outreach organizations will now fill in the gap by providing meals.
Ruth Moffatt with the city of Gadsden says it’s about uniting neighbors with plenty of food and a renewed sense of pride. She says this the new chapter will bring the tradition back to its roots and why it was started.
The growing success of the event over the years has led to rising costs in food, supplies and financial issues. Even with the city donating money, Moffatt says it just wasn’t enough.
