Delhi Police on Tuesday handed over its report on the Red Fort car bomb blast to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), sources said.

The probe is now being handled by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

A powerful explosion ripped through a moving i20 car near the Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening.

Investigation officials have claimed it was a suicide bomb attack, carried out by three persons reportedly associated with the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

Initially, the Kotwali police lodged an FIR describing the event as a bomb blast.

Later the same day, the MHA transferred the case to the NIA, which is now coordinating with police in Jammu & Kashmir and Faridabad.
