OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The Northern Lights are making a rare appearance in the metro area tonight.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration issued a space weather condition update that the lights could be seen as low as south as Alabama to Northern California.

Anyone traveling at high altitude or low orbit may also want to take extra precautions due to increased radiation levels.
