17-year-old injured in southwest Atlanta shooting, police say

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A 17-year-old boy was injured in a southwest Atlanta shooting on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

Around 1:45 p.m., Atlanta police responded to a person shot on the 800 block of Ralph D. Abernathy Boulevard SW, which is in the West End neighborhood near the now-closed Mall West End and dozens of other businesses.

Officers reportedly found a 17-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his left leg. He was alert, conscious and breathing when he was taken to the hospital.

Police have not announced if they’ve made arrests or identified suspects.
