An imam from Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian, Irfan Ahmad Wagah, was arrested on Tuesday, a day after the Faridabad explosives bust and the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort triggered a multi-agency probe. Along with Ahmad, the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) and Srinagar Police also arrested his wife during a raid at their home for allegedly recruiting and radicalising doctors - including those arrested in the Faridabad module - as well as several youths in the Valley.
A former paramedical worker at the Government Medical College (GMC) in Srinagar, Ahmad - who also served as an imam in Nowgam - was allegedly involved in luring medical professionals toward radical ideologies, according to intelligence sources.
Investigators have linked Ahmad’s wife to the radicalisation of a doctor named Shahee
