HAMMOND, La. —

A Texas woman is dead after a crash in Hammond on Monday evening.

According to Louisiana State Police, preliminary investigation revealed that a Volkswagen was traveling east on Interstate 12. Advertisement

At the same time a motorcycle was traveling east in front of the Volkswagen.

For reasons still under investigation, the Volkswagen impacted the motorcycle, ejecting the driver and passenger.

June Volkman, 76, of Zapata, Texas was the passenger of the motorcycle and suffered severe injuries.

She was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

The driver of the motorcycle suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

The driver of the Volkswagen was issued a citation for following too closely.
