CLEVELAND, Ohio — University Circle police are wrapping up a friendly food drive competition with neighboring Cleveland police agencies to help families in need this Thanksgiving.
The department has been accepting donations since Nov. 1 and will continue through Sunday. All collected food will be delivered to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank on Monday, and the department that collects the most will be declared the winner.
In addition to University Circle police, law enforcement agencies at Case Western Reserve and Cleveland Clinic have joined the competition to provide food.
The competition is open to the public, as well. Residents are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food or other items that could benefit those in need, said Gloria Mercado, a University Circle police officer.
