On the campus of Dallas ISD’s T.C. Marsh Preparatory Academy sits a military museum where history comes to life.

Everything on display, from World War I to present-day conflicts, was donated by members of the community.

“It preserves these moments in space and time and history when our everyday citizens did extraordinary things,” said Ret. Lt. Col. Ted Jacobs.

Campus leaders say there’s nothing else like it in the district, a place where middle school students can learn about veterans beyond the pages of a history book.

“[The students] are our future, and it’s necessary for them to understand that the freedoms they enjoy do not come free. They are paid for,” Jacobs said.
