Pro-Palestinian activists protested Tuesday against the presence of an Israeli delegation at the U.N. climate talks taking place in Brazil.

Over a dozen protesters gathered outside the venue where the negotiations are being held with banners reading "No seat for genocider at COP30."

"We were protesting the presence of a genocidal entity that is Israel, that has been invited by the Brazilian presidency to take part of these negotiations and to take a part of this process," said Rania Harrara, from the organization Women and Gender Constituency. "We refuse the presence of a genocidal entity to greenwash the occupation," she added.

Protesters critized Brazil for having invited Israel to participate in the talks.

This year’s U.N climate talks aren’t expected to end with any ambitious new deal. Instead, organizers and analysts frame this year’s conference as the “implementation COP.”
