LeBron James is taking an unconventional route as he gears up for his historic 23rd NBA season.

The 40-year-old Los Angeles Lakers star is expected to practice with the franchise’s G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, later this week as part of his recovery process.

Head coach JJ Redick revealed the plan ahead of the Lakers’ 121–111 win over the Charlotte Hornets on Monday night. Redick initially told reporters that James was “literally practicing with South Bay today," before the team clarified that the workout would take place later in the week, as South Bay was off on Monday.
