A beautiful surprise tonight for many Northern Utahns as a geomagnetic storm allowed for the Northern Lights to be visible in parts of Utah and Idaho.  This severe geomagnetic storm was caused by a solar flare, reaching the G4 category which can make the Aurora Borealis visible as far south as Northern California and Northern Alabama.
