PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Just when you think hospital drama only happens on TV, a Valley couple lived through one themselves.

A soon-to-be dad, fresh out of surgery, managed to make it to the delivery room just in time to witness his baby’s arrival, all within the same Phoenix hospital.

Matt Sharp woke up early on Nov. 1 and was rushed to HonorHealth Sonoran Hospital , where doctors quickly diagnosed him with appendicitis. “Pretty quick, they said, ‘Yep, you have an appendicitis that needs to come out today,’” Sharp said.

Just hours after his surgery, while he was still recovering, Sharp got a call from his wife, who said she was on her way to the very same hospital, but for a far happier reason.

“I was still waiting on one more signature from a doctor to release me,” Sharp said.
