The Town of Victoria Park Mayor has issued a public apology over the removal of more trees than planned during works at Elizabeth Baillie Park.

In a post on Tuesday morning, Mayor Karen Vernon said she had authorised the publication of a statement in which the town accepted full responsibility for the losses of the trees to make way for the major upgrades in East Victoria Park.

The Town is currently renovating and redeveloping the park into an amphitheatre for events, constructing a brand new playground and public toilets, and brand new landscaping with new tree plantings to go in.
