The Fairy Tale season continues for the Avonworth High School girls volleyball team.
The Antelopes are going to the PIAA finals for the first time in school history after a 3-1 victory against District 10 champion Corry in a Class 2A semifinal match held Tuesday at Grove City High School.
"It's been quite a ride," said Avonworth coach John Skarupa. "It's overwhelming the support the coaches and players have received from the community and student body. We're hitting our peak and getting better every day."
Avonworth (19-6) won the WPIAL title with four upsets after being seeded No. 11 in the 20-team bracket. The Antelopes have since won three matches in the state tournament, but did lose the first set against Corry, 25-20.
