LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Waverly has played in the Class B Semifinals four times over the past seven years. The Vikings have been denied a trip to Memorial Stadium each time.
“Seeing the heartbreak that these Waverly teams have been through,” senior running back Nathan Axmann said. “I just feel like the guys this year have a chip on their shoulder and want to get it done.”
Waverly is back on the doorstep to the State Finals with an 11-0 record. The Vikings are the #1 seed in the Class B bracket and will meet Bennington on Friday at Viking Stadium.
Waverly defeated the Badgers in the season opener, 21-19.
